FINE ARTISTS WITH A PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH WORK ETHIC
Odell Painting is a skilled, meticulous and respectful team of painters and building preservationists. Beyond the results of our work, we take great pride in delivering a painless painting experience. Expect candid and frequent communication, beginning with the first conversation and ending only when we’ve completely satisfied our commitments to you.
Our process accounts for both your use of the space and the original intentions of its builders. Unlike man-with-a-van painters and multi-crew regional contractors, who apply a single, retail-quality process to all walls, Odell Painting responds to each surface based on its material nuances, its modern utility and the history that first brought it into being. Our work allows homeowners to enjoy a sense of permanence as their personal histories or business legacies unfold within their most valued and cherished spaces.
AWARDS
Contractor of the Year: Residential Interior Specialty
Odell Painting was named Contractor of the Year (CotY) in the Residential Interior Specialty category by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), Bucks-Mont Chapter. The honor was bestowed for Odell Painting’s work on a Bucks County kitchen and dining room. The project involved precision measuring and blocking, hand-stenciling and steady-stroke application of a historically accurate paint.
Contractor of the Year: Entire Home Remodel
Odell Painting collaborated with Gemmi Construction, Inc. on a Contractor of the Year (CotY) award-winning Colonial home remodel. The award was given in the category of Entire Home Remodel for Homes Valued Above $250,000. Odell Painting’s work can be seen throughout the home’s stunning interior and around its pristine exterior.

Ken Odell, Founder
“My mentor, a Pennsylvania Dutch painter, taught me very early to treat every square inch like a canvas. He was obsessively meticulous: In addition to rollers, I learned to paint walls and ceilings with fitch brushes and pound tools. I also spent many more hours prepping surfaces than painting them. That kind of craftsmanship, and so many of those old-world methods, are why owners of historic properties call us first today. Our clients describe our work as more aesthetically satisfying and more likely to stand the test of time. We’re highly referred within Bucks County and Montgomery County, Philadelphia, Hunterdon County, and New York City.”

THE ODELL PAINTING ETHOS
. . . Old buildings are not ours. They belong, partly to those who built them, and partly to the generations of mankind who are to follow us. The dead still have their right in them:
That which they labored for . . . we have no right to obliterate. What we ourselves have built, we are at liberty to throw down. But what other men gave their strength, and wealth, and life to accomplish, their right over it does not pass away with their death . . .
— John Ruskin, 1849, The Seven Lamps of Architecture
COLOR CONSULTATION
With Odell Painting, many of our projects begin with a one-on-one Color Consultation with Founder Ken Odell. A master Color Consultant, he addresses your desires for your spaces and gives the walls an opportunity to do their share of talking. Our objective is to find the perfect balance between the original intention of the property and the goals of its present ownership, so your choice of a color palette will be one that you’ll love now and for years to come.
SURFACE PREP
Properly prepping the surfaces ensures the highest quality, longest lasting results. Unlike many of our competitors, Odell Painting is RRP Certified through the US EPA, meaning we can safely remove lead-based paint in homes built before 1978. Before priming, interior walls will be cleaned and sanded with a Festool sander, which has a dust extractor. We also use dust barriers to minimize the impact on non-project areas. And if needed, we have numerous techniques for getting wallpaper off as quickly as possible before spackling and priming. On the outside, all surfaces are power-washed with a special cleaning agent to remove dirt, stains and contaminants before our usual thorough prepping practices.
PAINT & DETAIL
With walls prepped to perfection, we next take the time to prime, caulk and paint. We’ll coat, recoat and touch-up as necessary to prevent bleed-through of old colors from emerging, using time-tested, old-world methods. Throughout the Paint & Detail phase, we maintain a policy of frequent communication and clean, immaculate working conditions, so you can watch your room come alive one coat at a time.
CLEANUP
Some painting contractors pack their vans and disappear down the road at a job’s end. Never with Odell Painting. In fact, while we typically clean throughout our painting projects, we thoroughly clean our work spaces and conclude with a final walkthrough to correct any issues you might observe to ensure your highest satisfaction.

Handprints. Hung photos. Framed art. In so many ways, we place things on our walls to reflect what’s within them. But shouldn’t you care, with the same great affection, for the walls themselves?
At Odell Painting, we believe those painted spaces, between the frames, are best colored by the past that made them, and the pasts we’re making now. By tending to the spaces below the spice racks, between the cork boards, around the antique clock, we are preserving our most precious heirloom, our home, and the memories made within it.
COLOR CONSULTATION
A blank slate or a second opinion, no matter where you are in the color selection process, Odell Painting’s color experts can help you decide on a palette that will, above all, make you happy and comfortable in your space.
